Style Points

  • Close up on needle shot
  • Intergalactic teams graphics
  • Slow motion dance scene
  • Spin the bottle sequence
  • Cole blacking out and drowsiness as he wakes up
  • John falling down stairs death scene
  • Cole blowing up Sonya with a fire work

Money Shot

A “We are the champions” montage plays in the background. Cole steals his neighbors prized vehicle and crashes it into his own house injuring his babysitter Bee. Bee proclaims “You drove a car through your house… I wasn’t expecting that”

Final Touch

This was a fun twist on the Babysitter genre. Stylistically this came off as a comic book or video game with the animations and bold text being displayed on-screen. Samara Weaving and Judah Lewis were perfect in their starring roles. The supporting cast was also very suitable and entertaining. I enjoyed the call backs to Home Alone with one of his tormentors proclaiming this is not Home Alone before he tripped on a toy and fell to his death. Also as Cole ran out of his girlfriends house not afraid anymore yelling “Here I am, Come and get me” Even though this film centers around a grade school child there is a plethora of gruesome killings and explicit dialogue to go around. A sexy display, The Babysitter dresses to kill and is an all around fun time.
